Iran, Netherlands having suitable situation to develop economic exchanges: Dutch FM

Tehran (ISNA) – Iran and Netherlands enjoy suitable conditions for economic exchange and political ties should be developed between the two countries, the Dutch Foreign Minister, Stef Blok said.

In a meeting with Isfahan's Governor Abbas Rezaei, Blok said, “People of Isfahan are known for hospitality. The reason I have traveled to Iran and Isfahan is to develop diplomatic relations. The meetings can consolidate bilateral ties in the current global situation”.

He hoped that Iran’s relations with the world continue as before. “Iran and Netherlands have suitable situation to develop economic and political exchanges. I’m happy that people to people relations are still underway between the countries,” he added.

“Dutch people love visiting Iran and Isfahan, but tensions in January raised restrictions for visiting Iran, which will be solved,” he said.

According to Blok, he will meet President Hassan Rouhani and his Iranian counterpart, Mohammad Javad Zarif and discuss reducing regional tensions.

He added that he will meet with Dutch businessmen in Iran and consider their views. The top diplomat stressed that Dutch businessmen are free in trade with Iran and their only restriction refers to military issues.

“We are completely free in agricultural exchanges with Iran but the cash payment system should be reviewed,” Blok added.

The Dutch minister hoped that Iran would help reducing tensions in the region.
