To end insecurity, US’ withdrawal should be priority: Shamkhni

Tehran (ISNA) - Iran's secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani in a meeting with Syrian Prime Minister, Imad Khamis said, by attacking US’ Ain al-Asad base, Iran proved it wouldn’t give up on protecting its national security and interests under any circumstances.

As long as US forces maintain their presence in West Asia, the region won’t reach stability, security and peace, Shamkhani said, “US’ withdrawal from the region will be realized by the unity of regional nations and governments”.

Supporting measures by Syrian government to oust terrorist groups in Idlib, he stressed, “Looting Syrian oil and resources is another tragedy that will end by US’ complete withdrawal from the region”.

Syrian Prime Minister, Imad Khamis, for his part, thanked Iran’s support for Syrian nation in fighting against terrorism, saying, “Now that terrorism is destroying thanks to the attempts by Syrian government, military and nation and the support of friend countries, we should try to develop bilateral relations through advancing trade and economic cooperation”.
