جشنواره فیلم‌های آسیایی رم

Tehran (ISNA) – The 20th edition of Asiatica Film Festival in Rome hosts three Iranian films.

“Castle of Dreams” directed by Reza Mirkarimi, “Sly” by Kamal Tabrizi, and “Rona, Azim's Mother” by Mahmoudi’s brothers will be screened at the 20th Asiatica Film Festival.

“Rona, Azim’s Mother”, a co-production between Afghanistan and Iran by Tehran-based Afghan brothers Jamshid and Navid Mahmudi, had previously collected prizes at Vesoul, Sama and Busan international film festivals.

‘Rona, Azim’s Mother’ centers around Azim, an afghan refugee, who lives and works in Tehran along with his family. Being the head of entire family and as the eldest brother, he arranges for his brother Faroogh, and his family along with their mother to be smuggled into Germany. But at the last moments Faroogh shamefully makes his decision known to Azim that he's not going to take their mother who is very attached to her grandchildren. Azim who feels lonely and is furious, accidentally finds out that his mother is in dire need of a kidney transplant, otherwise she'll die in 2 months. He has to choose between his own life and his mother's whom he has always claimed as the most important one in his life.

“Castle of Dreams” has been screened at several international events, including the 22nd Shanghai International Film Festival, where it won awards in three categories, including best film and best director.

It is about two young children whose mother has just died, and their father, Jalal, after long years of absence, returns to sort things out, but he does not want to take the children with him.

“Sly”, a comedy by Kamal Tabrizi, is about Ghodrat Samadi who wants to become a member of parliament, but he has a reputation for recklessness and taking arbitrary action. Deciding his best course of action is negotiating with assorted parties and politicians, none take him seriously until he's connected to a single, notorious incident.

The 20th edition of Asiatica Film Festival began on October 1, 2019 and will run through October 10 in Italy.
