According to the report, Deepak Punia on Sunday withdrew from his gold medal match in the men’s 86kg match at World Wrestling Championships against Hassan Yazdani after failing to recover from a leg injury.
“I suffered an injury during my first bout. My left leg is still swollen. I wanted to win a gold medal for my country but unfortunately it didn’t happen. I thought I will recover in time but failed to recover,” Deepak said.
“I wish I could play the final but you know injury is part and parcel of a sportsperson’s life” Deepak said.
Therefore, Hassan Yazdani will bag the gold medal and claim the title at the World Wrestling Championships in Kazakhstan.
It is the second time that Hassan Yazdani claims the world championship.
