Tehran to host Asian Volleyball Championship from Friday

Tehran (ISNA) - Iran men's national volleyball team will hold matches against its Asian competitors from Friday.

The 20th edition of the Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship is set to begin on Friday September 13 in Iran’s capital Tehran.

Tehran will be the host of the tournament from Sept. 13 to 21.

16 teams compete in 4 groups to determine the continental champion. Also, top eight teams of this tournament will qualify for the 2020 Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament in China’s Jiangmen in January where the winner will win the Olympics quota.

Iran is pooled against Australia, Qatar and Sri Lanka in Pool A.

Iran will start the campaign with a match against Sri Lanka on Friday and will meet Qatar and Australia on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
