Terrorism in Western Asia foul result of US’ wrong policies: Iran

نشست بهرام قاسمی سخنگوی وزارت امور خارجه

Tehran (ISNA) – Terrorism in Western Asia is the foul result of decades of US’ wrong policies, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Bahram Qassemi said, adding that Iran has been the cradle of coexistence between different ethnics and religions.

Commenting on US President Donald Trump’s remarks in 2019 State of the Union Address, Qassemi said, “Terrorism in Western Asia is the foul result of US and some of its allies’ wrong policies in the region during recent decades, which is based on abuse policy, aimed at advancing their strategies such as forming Al-Qaeda, ISIS and other extremist and terrorist groups, as well as creating erosive crises, tensions and instability in the region”.

“Trump is accusing Iran of supporting terrorism, while it’s clear to everyone that Iran has had real and constant fight against terrorism as the biggest victim of the phenomenon during recent decades, suffering from physical and spiritual costs of terrorism, and will continue to do so, as you can see Iran has played an undeniable and fundamental role in defeating Isis in Iraq and Syria.”

Mentioning that it’s crystal clear that religious minorities, including Jews are living in full freedom in Iran and they have their own independent representatives in Iran’s parliament, the spokesman said, “Iran has been the cradle of coexistence between different ethnics and religions”.

“Islamic Republic of Iran has held elections during the last four decades more than any other regional country, including US’ close allies which have dictatorial and authoritarian regimes. Undoubtedly, the Islamic Republic has been raised from a popular revolution, based on democracy. US president Donald Trump’s unrealistic, illogical and illusive accusations against Iranian nation and government can’t remove the stain of killing oppressed people of the region from US and dictator regimes’ face that are promoting violence and extremism under US support,” he added.
