Iran, Syria FMs meet in Tehran

Tehran (ISNA) – Syrian Foreign Minister, Walid Muallem, who is in Tehran at the head of a delegation, met with his Iranian counterpart, Mohammad Javad Zarif on Tuesday.

The Syrian top diplomat will also hold a meeting with Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani.

Meanwhile, United Nations’ Special Envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen, who is also in Tehran, is due to attend separate meetings with Zarif and senior advisor to Iran’s Foreign Minister in Political Affairs, Hossein Jaberi Ansari on Tuesday to discuss the latest developments in Syria’s crisis.

The talks about developments in Syria and political solutions for the crisis comes before 4th round of Astana summit with attendance of Iran, Russia and Turkey’s presidents, which is due to be held in the Russian Black Sea resort town Sochi on February 14.
