Saeed Namaki appointed as Iran’s new Health Minister

Tehran (ISNA) – Saeed Namaki won a confidence vote in Iranian Parliament and was appointed as the country’s new Health Minister.

During Monday session held with Iranian President, Hassan Rouhani in attendance, lawmakers approved Saeed Namaki with 229 votes in favor, 25 against, and 4 abstentions.

Namaki replaced Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi who stepped down from his position over proposed budget cuts in early January.

He is a member of Tehran’s Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences faculty and had served as deputy head of Planning and Budget Organization for social affairs, deputy Health Minister and also deputy chief of Iran’s Department of Environment.
