14 Asian national teams receive free services to organize training camps in Qatar

قطر جام ملتها

Tehran (ISNA) – Despite remarks made by former head coach of Iran National Team, Carlos Queiroz, reports suggest that Qatar has provided free services for 14 Asian national teams to organize training camps before Asian Cup competitions.

While Queiroz has made critical remarks about the national team’s training camps in Qatar, saying that “without Qatar we had no money for the national team’s camps”, reports show that 13 other national teams except Iran have received such free services in line with Qatar’s supportive policy.

In the way to prepare for hosting the World Cup 2022, Qatar has constructed vast football infrastructure and facilities. The little Arab country has provided free services for those countries that have helped Qatar in bypassing strict Arab sanctions against Doha. One of the 14 countries was Iran which had a 17-day camp in Qatar before the Asian competitions.

Jordan, Afghanistan, Algeria, Iran, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, China, Sri Lanka, Syria, Iraq, Palestine, Philippine, Kirgizstan and Vietnam were the 14 countries that Qatar has provided free services for their training camps. Iran team stayed in Doha longer than the other 13 national teams.

All the friendly matches between the teams that had camped in Doha were held free and generally behind closed doors.
