Iran’s FM meets Indian Transport Minister/Iran not to wait for Europeans

Tehran (ISNA) - Iran’s Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif has sat down for talks with the Indian Transportation and Shipping Minister, Nitin Gadkari.

Mohammad Javad Zarif’s meeting with Nitin Gadkari came during the top Iranian diplomat’s trip to India.

In the meeting, the two sides discussed ways of boosting mutual ties, namely economic relations, especially in the fields of transportation and shipping. They also discussed mutual cooperation with regards to the Iranian Chabahar port.

Iran’s foreign minister is currently on an official visit to India for talks with New Delhi officials.

Following the meeting, Mr. Zarif told reporters, “Iran will continue to our cooperation with EU over the European financial mechanism known as the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) but we will not wait for them”.

“Europeans have made efforts in this regard but they could not make progress as we expected. We develop our cooperation through different channels,” he added.

“We will continue to our cooperation with EU over the SPV, but we will not wait for them. We are cooperating with our traditional partners like China, India and Russia to preserve Iranian people’s interests,” the senior Iranian diplomat stressed.
