Iranian, Qatari FMs hold talks

Tehran (ISNA) - Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Qatari counterpart Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani held negotiations in Doha on Tuesday.

They held two rounds of talks, discussing issues of mutual interest in the meeting.

Amir-Abdollahian referred to ties between Tehran and Doha based on bilateral and regional cooperation and underlined the need to expand cooperation, particularly in trade, economic and investment areas given Iran’s capacities and advantages, and to coordinate exchange of high-ranking delegations.

He stressed the priority of neighbors in the foreign policy of the 13th government, saying Iran welcomes expanding ties with regional countries and holding regional dialog to establish stability and considers them important.

Qatar’s foreign minister, for his part, outlined the Qatari leadership’s view regarding the boosting and expanding of relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

He underlined that Doha is interested in expanding cooperation with Tehran especially in economic activities.

The two top diplomats further discussed, among others, regional and international issues, particularly the developments in Afghanistan and Yemen.

Earlier, Amir-Abdollahian held talks with Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Prior to Doha, he traveled to Muscat and met with Omani senior officials.
