Speaking at a weekly press conference on Monday, Khatibzadeh said, “The related bodies of Iran have been following up on this issue with emphatic priority and we did our best in following up the case in accordance with international laws and treaties”.
“The technical report on the crash has been completed and will be published and delivered to the Ukrainian side later today or by tomorrow,” he added.
“We will exert every effort to move forward in addressing the issue with transparency,” the spokesman emphasized.
Khatibzadeh criticized Canada’s accusations and meddling stance on the matter, saying, “It is not a simple matter. The Canadian authorities’ statements were meddling and unacceptable from the first day after the incident.”
He warned the government and the foreign minister of Canada to be accountable for their comments and actions.
Referring to Canada’s cooperation with the US in the unjust prevention of medicine imports to Iran, Khatibzadeh said, “The government that has made every effort to block the delivery of medicine to Iran has no place talk about human rights.”
Regarding the online meeting of the JCPOA foreign ministers today, Khatibzadeh said, “The meeting focused on the latest developments related to the JCPOA in recent months not on a specific issue”.
“Iran will not renegotiate the JCPOA. The deal has already been discussed, signed and finalized and the Resolution 2231 is also clear,” he reiterated.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Khatibzadeh denounced the rocket attack on the US embassy in Baghdad, noting that, however, the timing of the attack and the US’ immediate claims seems suspicious.
“Attacking diplomatic and residential premises is not acceptable, but the type of attack and its timing and the statement issued by the US Secretary of State show that the timing is very suspicious and they had already prepared a statement to publish. I strongly condemn the remarks of the U.S. regime’s secretary of state, who is known for his lies and cheating, whether in his current capacity or in his previous capacity as the CIA director,” he said.
Khatibzadeh stressed he is sure that the Iraqi government will find those behind the attack.
He also warned the U.S. against warmongering and escalating tensions.
