Answering ISNA question about the accuracy of reports regarding the conviction of Iranian diplomat Asadullah Asadi to 20 years in prison, Khatibzadeh said, “Such news is not true. This is the request of the prosecutor from the court and no verdict has been issued”.
“From the beginning, we have repeatedly stated that this court has no jurisdiction and the ongoing judicial process has no legitimacy due to its definite diplomatic immunity and fundamental flaws in form and content and even if it leads to a verdict, we will not recognize it,” he added.
“The diplomat is innocent and it is clear that a conspiracy has been hatched against him,” Khatibzadeh went on to say.
