Providing livelihood for people government’s duty: President Rouhani

Tehran (ISNA) - The 176th meeting of the Cabinet’s Economic Coordination Board was held on Tuesday morning, chaired by President Dr. Hassan Rouhani.

In the meeting, the head of the Plan and Budget Organization presented a report on the measures taken to match the pensions of retirees and increase the income of workers and employees in order to provide livelihood and alleviate some of the effects of inflation on the prices of goods and services.

Referring to the sensitivities and complexities in managing the economic situation, Dr. Rouhani emphasized, "The government considers it its duty to provide livelihood for the people and compensate for inflation, and welcomes all the plans and proposals of other branches, activists and economic experts in solving people's problems”.

At the same time, the President stressed that care must be taken when presenting some plans whose sources have not been seen, and that they cannot help solve the problems and may cause inflation problems or fuel unrealistic expectations. Therefore, considering the resources and providing the conditions for their implementation is a prerequisite for success in serving the people and gaining their satisfaction.

In the rest of the meeting, the proposals of the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade and the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) regarding the necessary loans for expanding exports and using export currency to supply the required imports of the country's production units were examined.

Making decisions on these proposals was postponed to another time in the extraordinary meeting in the cabinet’s economic coordination board this afternoon.
