Austria repeals travel warning for Iran

Tehran (ISNA) - Austrian ambassador to Iran, Stefan Scholz announced that Austria has downgraded its travel warning for Iran.

“Austria has downgraded its travel warning for Iran, repealing its advice against non-essential travels following a thorough reassessment,” he wrote on his official Twitter account.

“We believe that the risk to Austrian nationals has changed. This decision will also further contribute to civil society contacts and commerce,” said the ambassador.

Austria’s travel restrictions to Iran were put in place due to heightened tensions between Iran and the US in the region following the US assassination of Lt. Gen. Soleimani in early January, IRGC’s retaliatory airstrikes on US military bases in Iraq, and the Ukrainian plane crash.
