Iranian officials praise retaliatory attack against US’ Ain al-asad base

Tehran (ISNA) – Several Iranian officials praised the retaliatory missile attack by Aerospace Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps against US’ Ain al-Asad air base in Iraq.

Following the operation, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Bagheri warned US that any other aggression will face a stronger, more crushing, and more massive response from Iran.

“The time has come for the evil rulers of the United States to withdraw their terrorist army forces as quickly as possible from the region,” he said.

“The Wednesday operation demonstrates only a fraction of the capability of the Islamic Republic of Iran's armed forces and is a response to the terrorist act of the American regime in martyring the honorable commander General Qassem Soleimani,” General Bagheri added.

Deputy Chief of Sarallah unit, Brigadier General Esmaeil Kosari told ISNA about the retaliatory attack, “They thought their bases in the region will be safe forever, but they should know that here is no longer safe for them”.

General Rasoul Sanaei-Rad told ISNA regarding the missile attack against Ain al-Asad base, “It was Iran’s weakest retaliatory scenario made in line with a national demand to avenge the assassination of General Qassem Soleimani and his companions”.

Meanwhile, Hessamoddin Ashena, the advisor to President Hassan Rouhani noted, “Any military aggression by US in the region will face an all-out war”.

Iran’s ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations, Majid Takht Ravanchi in a letter to the secretary-general of the UN, António Guterres wrote, “Iran will take necessary and proportionate measures against any threat or use of force”.

The Aerospace Force of IRGC has fired several ballistic missiles at the Ain al-Assad base of the American troops in Iraq in retaliation for the assassination of General Qassem Soleimani.

The missiles have successfully hit their target.

The IRGC later confirmed the attacks, and said in an official statement that in Operation Martyr Soleimani in early hours of Wednesday, tens of ground-to-ground missiles were fired at the US base and successfully pounded the Ain al-Assad Base.

In the statement, IRGC warned the United States that any more aggression or movement will receive more “painful and crushing” response.
