Iran, Germany to expand scientific, research cooperation

Tehran (ISNA) - The Vice-Chancellor for Research at Academic Center for Education, Culture, and Research (ACECR), Isfahan branch, stated that a delegation of members of the TU Dortmund University, Germany had traveled to Isfahan to expand scientific cooperation with Iran under the DAAD project (GERMAN ACADEMIC EXCHANGE SERVICE), entitled “Planning in Germany and Iran: Responding to Challenges of Climate Change through Intercultural Dialogue.”

“The meeting was held with the members of Faculty of Ecology and Landscape Planning, TU Dortmund University, in order to expand cooperation with the ACECR,” Mehdi Jianpour said in an interview with ISNA.

He added, “TU Dortmund University is one of the links of the networks supported by DAAD in Germany. In Iran, DHEI (Daneshpajoohan Higher Education Institute) works with the TU Dortmund University in the field of urban studies and is currently undertaking joint research projects with the University. Entry to this research network was welcomed by the ACECR. Thus, cooperation was established between the three institutions, namely the TU Dortmund University, Isfahan ACECR, and DHEI”.

Jianpour explained that the first step is to conclude a Memorandum of Understanding between Isfahan ACECR and DHEI and the second step is to join the DAAD Research Network through the TU Dortmund University.

He added, “We will now move on to common topics of interest, defined projects, and joint scientific work”.

On the second side of this Triangle of Cooperation, Jianpour said, “DAAD is currently focused on climate change. In addition, DHEI has been working with the TU Dortmund University on this issue for the last two years”.

Jianpour noted that the purpose of the meeting was to develop an active research network on climate change, to identify issues of mutual interest and to start cooperating to reach them.

He added that the educational and research exchanges between Iran and Germany, joint conferences and lectures provide the tools and contexts needed to achieve this goal.
