When the Moon Was Full" praised at Tallinn Black Nights Fest.

Tehran (ISNA) - 2019 Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival praised “When the Moon Was Full” directed by Narges Abyar with FIPRESCI Award.

Iran’s representative in the Official Section of Tallinn Black Nights also won the festival’s €2000 prize.

The film narrates the true story of Abdul-Hamid Rigi, the younger brother of Abdul-Malik Rigi, the founder and leader of the Jundallah terrorist group in southeastern Iran, who marries Faezeh Mansuri, a woman from Tehran. He forces Faezeh to leave her homeland along with her brother to live in Pakistan where they find themselves involved in the Jundallah terrorist activities.

“Dance with Me” directed by Soroush Sehat was another film representing Iran in First Feature Competition section of the event.

Japanese drama “Kontora” won the grand prix at the 23rd Black Nights Film Festival. The black-and-white feature produced by Kowatanda Films, received its world premiere at the festival and marks the second live-action feature of India-born animator Anshul Chauhan.

The story centers on a teenager who searches for a mysterious trove, guided by her grandfather’s WWII-era diary.

23rd Black Nights Film Festival was held November 15 to December 1 in Tallinn, Estonia.
