64 flotillas sent to int. waters: Khanzadi

میر دریادار حسین خانزادی

Tehran (ISNA) – Iran Navy is the protector of territorial integrity and defends the country’s maritime interests, Commander of Iran’s Navy, Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi said, adding that 64 flotillas have been sent to international waters defending Iran’s interests.

“Providing security is any government’s duty and national power comes from efforts in the area. Security should be stable to let social activities continue. That’s why governments should try to provide it,” Rear Admiral Khanzadisaid said on Wednesday.

Describing armed forces as “security providers”, the official said, “Iran Navy is the protector of territorial integrity and defends the country’s maritime interests which is why we have sent 64 flotillas to international waters to defend Iran’s interests”.

“Given the sensitive security situation in the Red Sea and terrorist insecurity in the region, we are focused on the Red Sea as an insecure sea,” he said.

“In addition to flotillas that used to appear in the region from time to time, two flotillas have had stable and constant presence in the Red Sea and Suez Canal to provide security in the region,” the official continued.
