India to host 3 Iranian films

Tehran (ISNA) – The 50th International Film Festival of India, Goa will host three Iranian feature films.

Two Iranian films “Just 6.5” directed by Saeed Roustaee and “Old Men Never Die” by Reza Jamali will be screened at the World Panorama section of the film festival.

“The Warden” directed by Nima Javidi is the third Iranian film which will be screened at the ICFT UNESCO Gandhi Medal section, competing with films from India, Germany, Italy, Mexico and the US.

In this section, eight features films which carry the values exhibited by Mahatma Gandhi for his immense contribution to the society will compete for this exemplary award.

The International Film Festival of India (IFFI), founded in 1952, is one of the most significant film festivals in Asia. Held annually, currently in the state of Goa, on the western coast of the country, the festival aims at providing a common platform for the cinemas of the world to project the excellence of the film art; contributing to the understanding and appreciation of film cultures of different nations in the context of their social and cultural ethos; and promoting friendship and cooperation among people of the world.

Moreover, “At Five in the Afternoon” directed by Samira Makhmalbaf will be screened at the Golden Peacock Retrospective and “Marghe and her mother” by Mohsen Makhmalbaf will be screened at the closing ceremony of the festival.

The 50th International Film Festival of India will be held November 20-28, 2019 in Goa.
