Iran, Russia confer on latest regional developments

Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian deputy Foreign Minister, Seyyed Abbas Araqchi held talks with his Russian counterpart Mikhail Bogdanov on Saturday.

Araqchi and Bogdanov who is also Russian president's envoy in the Middle East and North Africa affairs conferred on the developments in the Middle East and Persian Gulf including the situation in Iraq, Lebanon, Syria and Yemen as well as Hormuz Peace Endeavor (HOPE) initiative presented by Iran and a collective security concept proposed earlier by Russia.

They also stressed on the need to maintain negotiations on regional developments.

Araghchi is in Russia to attend the 2019 Moscow Nonproliferation Conference.

He is to address a meeting on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) to be taken part by the signatory states of the deal excluding the United States which withdrew unilaterally from the JCPOA in May 2018.
