Iranian wrestlers win 2 golds at U23 championships

Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian wrestlers Meysam Dalkhani and Ali Akbar Yousefi claimed two gold medals at the 63kg and 130kg, respectively, at Under 23 World Wrestling Championships held in Budapest, Hungary.

At 63kg, Dalkhani defeated his opponent from Belarus 9-6 before beating his Ukrainian rival 5-1 in quarter-final which led him to semi-final, during which Dalkhani defeated the representative of Turkey.

In final match, he faced Levani Kavjaradze from Georgia, who was defeated 7-6 and brought the gold medal for the Iranian wrestler.

Iran’s representative at 130kg, Ali Akbar Yousefi beat his Finnish rival 3-0 and met Germany’s wrestler in quarter-final, defeating him 3-2.

In semi-final, he beat Turkey’s representative 7-6. Yousefi picked up his second World gold medal of the year, winning by injury default over five-time World champion Zviadi Pataridze from Georgia.
