Iran, Russia confer on HOPE initiative, developments in northern Syria

Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian ambassador to Moscow, Mehdi Sanaei and Russian deputy Foreign Minister, Mikhail Bogdanov held a meeting, discussing the recent developments in the Persian Gulf region and the Middle East.

In addition to reviewing the recent developments in regional countries, Sanaei and Bogdanov who is also Russian president's envoy in the Middle East and North Africa affairs conferred on the Islamic Republic of Iran's initiative to secure the region called the “Hormuz Peace Endeavour (HOPE) Coalition” and Russia's plan for collective security in the Persian Gulf region.

During the meeting, they also discussed various aspects of Syrian developments ahead of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit to Sochi to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin.
