Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian short film “Fault Line” (Gosal) directed by Soheil Amirsharifi won the Best Short Film Award at the 63rd section of BFI London Film Festival.

In Amirsharifi’s film, Nahal is an Iranian schoolgirl who must create a new version of the truth in a strict environment, despite there being unintended consequences to her self-preservation.

“This is a film that provoked intense discussion as we continued to decode it long after watching; for its sophisticated layering of story, beautifully controlled performances and uncompromising and singular vision that provokes the audience to piece together the unseen events that motivate all of the characters’ actions” Short Film Competition President, Jacqui Davies said.

“This subtle and unusual film manages to do something profoundly transgressive — formally and politically — whilst concealing the very things that make it so subversive. We all were desperate to watch this film again and again.”

Iranian feature film “The Warden” directed by Nima Javidi, in its first international presence, went on silver screen in “Thrill” section of BFI London Film Festival.

In Documentary Competition section, “Coup 53” directed by Taghi Amirani was also Iran’s representative.

The 63rd section of BFI London Film Festival was held from October 2-13, 2019.
