Two Iranian films invited to Giffoni Film Fest

Tehran (ISNA) – Iran will attend the 49th Giffoni children’s film festival with “Knockout” and “Fishnet and the Fish”.

The Italian film festival, which is one of the most well-known children's film festivals in the world, is due to be held July 19-27.

“Knockout”, directed by Gholamreza Ramezani and ‘Fishnet and the Fish’, directed by Ali Nikfar are accepted by the festival to represent Iran in the Official Competition section as films for children above 10 and 13, respectively.

“Fishnet and the Fish” tells the story of Kareem, an 11-year-old boy who works in a fish market and who is trying to make his own business by saving the environment.

In the story of “Knockout”, Bijan is surprised how Mohammad and Amir become friends in only one day. He who is a bullying boy at school is supposed to compete with Amir as a representative from his Tekvando club. Mohammad comes to know that Amir had a very serious disease and if he is defeated by Bijan he will pass away. So, he goes to Bijan and asks him to lose against Amir.

The credible film festival has previously awarded some Iranian prominent filmmakers, such as Abbas Kiarostami, Amir Naderi, Majid Majidi and Pouran Derakhshandeh.
