Iraq’s Interior Minister to visit Iran

Tehran (ISNA) – Iraq’s Interior Minister, Yassin al-Yassri will pay an official visit to Tehran to coordinate the Arba'een religious observance.

During a meeting with Iranian ambassador to Baghdad, Iraj Masjedi, Iraqi interior minister said, “All the related institutions, especially Iraq’s Interior Ministry will try hard that Arba'een religious observance to be held magnificently. Therefore, I will travel to Iran to coordinate the event with my Iranian brothers”.

Iraj Masjedi, for his part, congratulated Yassin al-Yassri for having been elected as Iraq’s Interior Minister and gaining the vote of confidence of the country’s Parliament.

Masjedi pointed to Yassin al-Yassri’s experience in different posts in Iraq’s Interior Ministry, wishing him success in carrying out this new responsibility.

He also voiced Iran’s readiness to cooperate with Iraq’s government including Interior Ministry in fighting with terrorism and organized crimes.

Mention the deep relations between Iran and Iraq, Masjedi noted, “The Islamic Republic of Iran supports development, prosperity, stability and security in Iraq”.
