Iranian Minister of Health to visit Geneva

Tehran (ISNA) – Iran’s Health Minister, Saeed Namaki will visit Geneva to attend 72nd World Health Assembly of World Health Organization.

The assembly which is focused on public health coverage will be attended by health ministers of World Health Organization member states.

According to the Director General of International Affairs in the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, Dr. Mohsen Asadi-Lari, Namaki is due to give speech in six panels of the assembly, such as primary health care towards universal health coverage, implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, 12th meeting of health ministers of the Non-Aligned Movement and primary health care in the Eastern Mediterranean Region.

 “On the sidelines of WHA, the Iranian health minister will meet his counterparts and the head of WHO and discuss advancing cooperation and the best ways to hold 66th Session of the WHO Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean in Tehran,” the director general said.

The 66th Session of the WHO Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean will be held October 14 to 17, 2019.

The 72nd World Health Assembly of World Health Organization is due to be held May 20-28 2019 in Geneva. Iran will participate in the event with a high-level delegation, headed by the health minister.
