Trip to New Delhi aimed at consulting with Indian officials: Zarif

Tehran (ISNA) – Iran’s Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif explained the purposes of his visit to New Delhi, saying, Iran and India always consult with each other in different fields and the visit is aimed at consulting with Indian officials.

Upon his arrival in the capital of India, New Delhi, Zarif told reporters, “I had a good trip to Turkmenistan during which the bilateral and comprehensive cooperation were discussed”.

 “After Turkmenistan, I have traveled to New Delhi. India is one of our important and close partners. We have regular consultations with India on different fields including economy. A special financial system has been designed between Iran and India which is used for economic activities. India is one of our biggest customers of Iran’s crude oil,” he noted.

“Iran and India have cooperation in various issues such as regional issues. In this regard, the two countries always consult with each other and the visit is aimed at consulting with Indian officials,” the top diplomat added.

During the visit, Zarif is to hold talks with a number of senior Indian officials.
