Iran unveils 2 new anti-cancer medicines

Tehran (ISNA) – Two new anti-cancer medicines were unveiled in Iran with the participation of Science and Technology Vice-President, Sorena Sattari and Health Minister, Saeed Namaki.

“Regorafenib”, one of the new unveiled medicines inhibits vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and tyrosine enzyme.

The drug is used in the treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer and for curing inoperable tumors.

 “Sorafenib” which is also classified as an inhibitor of tyrosine enzyme is prescribed for inoperable hepatocellular liver cancer.

The drugs have obtained US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval.
