We won’t view US forces as normal troops anymore: Iran’s deputy FM

عراقچی

Tehran (ISNA) - Iranian deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, Abbas Araghchi said, Iran has sent an explicit message to US through Switzerland embassy, following US’ hostile action to designate Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) a terrorist organization.

Responding to the designation, Araghchi said, “Americans are responsible for many felonies, including the attack against Iran’s passenger airplane and incidents in Yemen, Syria and Palestine and supporting ISIS. US Department of State, its Central Command (CENTCOM) and their operational forces have participated in all the issues and can be identified as terrorist organizations”.

Mentioning that earlier, in a letter to Iran’s President and the head of Supreme National Security Council, Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Javad Zarif called for designating United States Central Command (CENTCOM) as a terror group in Iran’s terrorism blacklist, the deputy Foreign Minister said, “The Supreme National Security Council of Iran has designated US’ Central Command (CENTCOM) and its affiliated forces as terrorist organization”.

“From now on, we won’t view US forces in the region as normal troops. They are terrorist forces and US bases in the region are terror bases and certainly we will have a different behavior toward them,” Araghchi added.

He also insisted that US forces travel through the Persian Gulf and protection of the gulf is IRGC’s duty.

Mentioning that he summoned Swiss ambassador to Tehran as the Protecting Power of the USA in Iran, Araghchi said, “We sent an explicit message to US through Switzerland’s ambassador, explaining that if US designates IRGC a terrorist organization, immediately, we will retaliate their action and US will be the direct responsible of any possible incident that may come next”.
