Iran's Majid Majidi to judge films in Beijing Film Festival

Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian director, Majid Majidi is among members of Beijing International Film Festival’s jury panel.

Two Iranian films including “Iro” directed by Seyed Hadi Mohaghegh and “Tehran:city of love” by Ali Jaberansari will compete at Tiantan Award section. Another Iranian film “Reza” directed by Alireza Motamedi will vie at “Forward Future” section.

“3 Faces” directed by Jafar Panahi will also be screened at the festival.

The festival's jury will be headed by director Rob Minkoff (The Lion King, The Forbidden Kingdom), who is becoming something of a Beijing regular, having served on the festival's jury just two years ago. Joining Minkoff will be British filmmaker Simon West, best known as the helmer of the 1997 action flick Con Air; Russian filmmaker Sergei Dworzewoi, whose most recent film Ayka was co-produced by China; Chinese director Cao Baoping; Hong Kong icon Carina Lau; Iran's Majid Majidi; and Chilean helmer Silvio Caiozzi.

Some 261 films are set to be screened over the course of the fest's ninth annual edition, which is set to run April 13-20 at venues across the Chinese capital.
