Iranian deputy FM hold talks with Iraqi PM

Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, Abbas Araqchi has met with Prime Minister of Iraq, Adil Abdul-Mahdi on Monday.

Araqchi, who has traveled to Baghdad upon the official invitation of Iraqi deputy Foreign Minister Nizar Khairallah, held talks with Adil Abdul-Mahdi today.

During the meeting, which was attended by Iranian ambassador to Baghdad Iraj Masjedi as well as Araqchi’s accompanying delegation, the two sides discussed the latest status of bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to improve the ties.

Araqchi also extended the warm greetings of the Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei as well as Iranian President, Hassan Rouhani to the Iraqi prime minister.

The Iranian deputy Foreign Minister has traveled to Baghdad to attend the third rounds of political talks between Iran and Iraq.

The meeting will be chaired by Araqchi and his Iraqi counterpart Nizar Khairallah in a bid to review the latest developments in the bilateral ties between Iran and Iraq.
