Iran expecting Europe to use INSTEX: FM spokesman

نشست بهرام قاسمی سخنگوی وزارت امور خارجه

Tehran (ISNA) – US’ pressures against Iran are continuing and it’s opposed to Iran-Europe cooperation for several reasons, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Bahram Qassemi said Monday.

During his press conference, Qassemi added, “What is indicated from European remarks shows their will toward using the Instrument in Support of Trade Exchanges (INSTEX), but we haven’t seen anything except registering the payment channel. The important thing is next steps toward the issue and we expect Europeans to use the mechanism.

Mentioning that Iran has had professional negotiations with Europe in the level of Foreign Ministry and other organizations and it will continue the talks, Qassemi expressed hope that European side would accept to do more for the sake of the cooperation.

According to the spokesman, INSTEX is being reviewed in different aspects and talks are due to be held during the coming days in professional level.

Regarding the issue of following up the case of terror attacks near Iran-Pakistan shared border in international institutions and United Nations, the Foreign Ministry spokesman said, “It doesn’t seem like the case is due to be submitted to UN or other institutions. We’d like to talk about assuring the security of Iran-Pakistan shared border and the necessary measures that Islamabad should take in order to avoid such attacks in a serious and compressed negotiation. The talks on the issue are going on and we can discuss Pakistanis’ proposals to achieve more resolutions in order to solve the issue”.

Qassemi also insisted, “It’s intolerable that a government or military cannot be able to avoid such terror attempts in its own territory against Iran”.
