Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, Abbas Araqchi and the Secretary-General of the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, Maurice Gourdault-Montagne held the 6th round of Iran-France political dialogues in Paris.

During the meeting, they discussed the latest developments regarding bilateral relations, the implementation of the 2015 nuclear agreement, known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the Instrument in Support of Trade Exchange (INSTEX), France’s commitments under the JCPOA, regional issues and the fight against terrorism.

Mentioning that Iran has completely implemented its obligations under the JCPOA, Araqchi said, “The other sides have so far failed to do so. As a result, the balance in the JCPOA’s implementation is disturbed”.

Welcoming the launch of INSTEX, he noted, “The mechanism was declared after a long delay, but we hope that it will become operational soon.

Maurice Gourdault-Montagne, for his part, stressed that Paris would keep up support for the nuclear deal, and that INSTEX was designed to meet that end.

The French official said, “Iran as an important and influential country and France is eager to continue dialogue with the Islamic Republic in all areas of mutual interest”.
