Iran’s first Vice-President heads to Syria

Tehran (ISNA) - Iran’s first Vice-President, Es'haq Jahangiri left Tehran for Damascus on Monday to hold talks with senior Syrian officials.

During the two-day visit, Es'haq Jahangiri will hold meetings with Syria’s President, Bashar al-Assad, Prime Minister, Imad Khamis and other senior officials and discuss the ways to expand bilateral interactions as well as accelerate the process of cooperation between Tehran and Damascus in political, economic and cultural fields.

Participation in a meeting of the Syrian-Iranian Joint High Committee, attending the ceremony of signing bilateral cooperation documents particularly the comprehensive cooperation agreement between the two countries, holding joint press conference, delivering a speech at Iran-Syria commerce conference and visiting the Sayyidah Zaynab Mosque and Sayyidah Ruqayya Mosque are among Jahangiri’s schedule during the visit.

During the official visit, more than 40 economic activists from Iran’s private sector will accompany Es'haq Jahangiri in order to review the economic cooperation grounds between Iranian and Syrian private sections and plan for investment in the Arab country.
