2nd Int’l Safe Community Short Film Festival to be held in Mashhad

Tehran (ISNA) – The head of International Safe Community Short Film Festival, Amir Azizi said, “We believe that subjects like crises, accidents and safety have a very rough and difficult nature and maybe people cannot connect with them, so we’ve tried to make it more effective by using art tools like short films, animations, feature films and documentaries that teaching the issues to citizens indirectly. In my opinion where ever art tool has used, good and useful consequences have been emerged”.

“We held the first edition of the film festival in 2016 and we faced very good feedbacks in Mashhad. After that, we screened selected short films in different cultural centers in Mashhad and also these short films went on silver screen simultaneously with 23rd International Safe Community Conference in Serbia during which representatives of the Serbian Ministry of Culture attended the event too,” he added.

Mentioning that the second festival will be held in 2018, the official noted, “This year, we have received lots of short films from different countries and the short films have been sent to the Secretariat of festival. The specific subject of the 2018 festival is earth quake in mega cities. We believe that earth quake has serious consequences on mental, financial and even political health”.

Referring that they provided an opportunity to make the festival to an important film festival among events held in the country, region and even world, Amir Azizi stated, “We can have a perspective that in the near future the festival became as like as Bousan International Film Festival that we know it as an Oscar of Asia”.

“Municipality of Mashhad has been selected as the Asian Secretariat of Safe Community Network and we decided that along with the scientific, professional and academic works held in Mashhad, the city can also host the great art event.”

“Domestic and international directors have welcomed the event and the submission of the works will be continued until January 5, 2019. We hope to hold the film festival in the best quality in March, 2019. We will screen the short films in high equipped movie theaters of Mashhad and maybe we can simultaneously screen these films in other provinces or metropolises,” he said.

“We have enjoyed the complete support of Mashhad municipality, City Council and also global and Asian network of Safe Community and World Health Organization. It is necessary that all the related organizations support us in this international event.”

The secretary of the 2nd International Safe Community Short Film Festival, Mohsen karimi rahjerdi, for his part, said, “In the first edition of the festival, we had awarded 3 best films, in three categories of feature, short and documentary films. We had one specific award with the subject of “police”. In the previous festival, we have received more than 900 short films from 75 countries. We received the most submissions from Iran and the other countries had also sent a lot of short films”.

“Since Mashhad has a special position among other countries and considers as the second mega city of Iran, many people pay a visit to the city each year so we decided to hold the festival in Mashhad. Although, it was the first international short film festival with this subject but we faced great feedbacks” he added.

“Rules of the 2nd international safe community short film festival is like other festivals, it is in three categories of short, feature and documentary films. The subjects of the films must be about safety of different groups of society, disabled people, children, elders and safety in urban and nonurban areas. All the details bring up on the website of the festival.”

“All the filmmakers can upload their works on the new website www.iscsff.com. There is no limitation for submitting the works, every individual especially people who have made short films for our festival can send their short films,” the official said.
