Majid Majidi receives Lifetime Achievement award at IFFK

Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian director Majid Majidi received the Lifetime Achievement award at the 23th International Film Festival of Kerala.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday night inaugurated the 23rd edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) and Majidi as the jury chairman for the international competition category of the event received the Lifetime Achievement award from Vijayan.

The festival which was opened by screening “Everybody Knows” directed by Asghar Farhadi, hosted five Iranian films in competition and world cinema sections.

Bahman Farmanara’s “Tale of the Sea”, Rouhollah Hejazi’s “The dark room” and “As I lay dying” directed by Mostafa Sayari are attending the international competition section as representatives of Iran and will challeng other films from Turkey, India, Argentina, Kyrgyzstan, Egypt, Malaysia, Bhutan and Brazil in the section to acquire the event’s main award.

Jafar Panahi’s “3 Faces” and “Dressage” by Pooya Badkoobeh are Iran’s two other representatives in International Film Festival of Kerala which will be screened in the event’s World Cinema section.

The 23rd edition of the IFFK was begun on December 7 and will be running until December 13.
