Top Pakistani officials vow to intensify efforts for releasing abducted guards: Zarif

Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif said, Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and Army Commander have vowed to intensify their efforts for releasing all the Iranian border guards abducted by terrorists.

Referring to his recent trip to Pakistan and the consultations he held with the officials in the country for liberating Iranian border guards, Mohammad Javad Zarif recently said both sides agreed to take measures to prevent such sinister acts.

Fostering closer border cooperation and maintaining joint presence at common border areas are among agreements between both sides, he said.

Iranian armed forces are also pursuing implementation of the agreements, he added.

Fourteen Iranian Basij (volunteer forces) and border guard forces were abducted by terrorists in Mirjaveh border point with Pakistan in Sistan-Baluchestan Province on October 15, IRNA reported.
