Iran inaugurates production line of Kowsar fighter jet

Tehran (ISNA) – Iran on Saturday inaugurated the production line of first domestically-built fighter jet, HESA Kowsar.

“Kowsar” which is first Iranian domestically-built jet trainer and strike aircraft, was inaugurated in the presence of Iran's Army Commander, Major General Seyed Abdolrahim Mousavi and Iranian Defense Minister, Brigadier General Amir Hatami at Iran Aircraft Manufacturing Industrial Company (HESA) in Isfahan.

The “Kowsar” will be produced in single and two-seater versions. The aircraft is equipped with new fourth generation avionics in combination with an advanced fire control system.

“Kowsar” is an advanced fighter jet with a Close Air Support (CAS) role that has made Iran one of the few countries with the know-how of designing and manufacturing such jets equipped with 4th generation avionic and fire-control systems.

Speaking at the event, General Hatami said, "Inaugurating production line of the Kowsar fighter is the symbol of fighting the global arrogance and standing against the excessive demands of the imperial system, which is being led by the Great Satan, the United States”.

He added that the fourth-generation fighter, with advanced maneuvering capability and multi-purpose radar would be service the entire Iranian Air Force soon.
