Tehran (ISNA) - In a phone call with Chief of Staff of the Iranian armed forces, Major General Mohammad Bagheri, the Pakistani chief of army staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa explained actions they’ve made toward pursuit and arresting terrorists who have kidnapped Iranian border guards.

14 Iranian border guards have been abducted by a terrorist group in Mirjaveh border, Sistan and Baluchistan province on October 16.

The Jaish al-Adl terrorist group claimed the responsibility of the attack and abduction.

According to Iranian media reports, the terrorists attacked the Iranian border guards in Lulakdan village, near the border of Pakistan.

“According to the agreements signed between armed staffs of the two countries aimed at providing border security, we expect the Pakistani side to take necessary actions for releasing the abducted border guards,” Bagheri said during his phone call with Pakistan’s chief of army staff.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa, for his part, expressed his regret over the terror attack, explaining Pakistan’s actions aimed at pursuit and arresting the terrorists. He also expressed his hope over releasing the abducted forces as soon as possible.

During the phone call, the Chief of Staff of the Iranian armed forces insisted on the need for deploying more military and guard forces to Iran-Pakistan border to consolidate security and avoiding terror actions in the area.
