2 Iranian films to be screened in IDFA

ایدفا 2018

Tehran (ISNA) – Two Iranian films will be screened in the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA).

This year, IDFA will host two Iranian films “Beloved” directed by Yaser Talebi in mid-length documentary competition category and “Aleppo: The Silence of The War” by Amir Osanlou in short documentary competition category.

“Beloved” follows the life of an 80-year-old mother named Firouzeh who is fond of her isolated lifestyle in nature with her cows. The film shows her kind and loving character and demonstrates her bravery and strength tackling the hardship of life in the Alborz Mountains without the modern comforts of technology. She believes happiness lies in the simplicities of life.

According to the synopsis of “Aleppo: The silence of the War”: Our daily life is full of voices that most of us do not hear because of repetition, As if they no longer exist. Sounds of car bug, car radio sound, traffic jerky voice, children's voice, bird sounds that read every morning to inform us from the beginning of the day. But in Aleppo, people were accustomed to the sounds of war, rockets, and mortars, to the sound of the mother's cries and the cry of the fathers, break the glass and destroy the houses. Now the war is over and everything is drowned in silence and wind. Silence is as eternal as is full of fear and loneliness. Full of stories buried under the rubble. “Aleppo: The silence of the War” depicts this fragile silence after the war. The silence from years of war. A silence that does not mean peace, nor the meaning of war!

The 31st edition of International Documentary Film Festival will take place in Amsterdam from November 14th through 25th, 2018.

IDFA is the world's largest documentary film festival has held annually since 1988 in Amsterdam.
