Iranian FM meets with incoming SCO Secretary General

Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif held talks with incoming Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Vladimir Norov on Monday.

Mr. Zarif hosted incoming Secretary General of SCO and director of the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan, Vladimir Norov at Iran’s Foreign Ministry building.

During the meeting, the officials conferred on bilateral and regional issues as well as fighting against Daesh (ISIS) and other terrorist groups.

They also stressed on strengthening bilateral relations between Iran and Uzbekistan in political, study, economic, cultural, transit and tourism fields.

Mr. Zarif has also congratulated Vladimir Norov on his election as the incoming Secretary General of SCO.

Norov, for his part, expressed hope that cooperation between Iran and SCO further develop under his presidency.

Norov will take over as SCO SG for a period of three years from Jan 2019 and listed stability of Afghanistan, countering terror in Eurasia and expanding economic partnership as the priorities for SCO.
