Iran’s Parliament approves CFT bill

Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian parliamentarians approved a bill on joining of Iran to Combating the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) convention.

The parliament’s open session debating the bill on joining of Iran to CFT kicked off Sunday morning with 270 lawmakers in attendance.

The bill was passed by 143 votes to 120, with five abstentions.

During the open session, two lawmakers who were against the bill and two deputies who agreed with the bill had expressed their views.

In the early hours of today, Iran's Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission had held a closed session to discuss details of the bill on the joining of Iran to CFT.

After the closed session this morning, the parliamentarians began an open session to review the issue in the presence of a number of government’s representatives, including Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alavi and Governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) Abdolnaser Hemmati.
