Behdad Salimi wins gold medal, announces retirement

Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian weightlifters Behdad Salimi and Saeid Alihosseini won the gold and silver medals respectively in men’s +105kg category of 2018 Asian Games.

In men’s +105kg, Behdad Salimi grabbed the gold medal by lifting a total of 461kg, Saeid Alihosseini won the silver medal by lifting a total of 456kg and Uzbekistan’s Rustam Djangabaev collected the bronze medal by lifting a total of 455kg.

Salimi hoisted the 208kg in the snatch and completed a clean and jerk of 253kg to gain a total of 461kg and announced retirement from weightlifting.

The other Iranian representative in this category, Alihosseini, lifted 208 in snatch and 248 in clean and jerk to win the silver medal.

Collecting a total of 16 gold, 15 silver and 15 bronze medals, Iran is currently ranked 5th in the medals table, after China, Japan, South Korea and Indonesia.
