Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi said, considering the policies of US and its president Donald Trump against Iran, all the resolutions such as negotiation seems to be blocked.

Pointing out to the previous talks between Iran and US, held after Iran’s Islamic revolution, Qassemi said, “Iranian and US’s delegations have held meeting several times, discussing Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) but during the talks, Iranian side hasn’t have any conversation with Americans over other issues except JCPOA”.

Answering a question about public views in Iran regarding the idea of negotiating with US and holding a referendum on the issue, the spokesman said, “Given the policies of US against Iran, its untrustworthiness and the Psychological warfare it has waged against our state, Iran can’t trust American side and Trump. Iran is a democratic country, so people can express their views over different issues. But the important thing is the opinion of the majority of people”.

“Iran is a strong state and has no fear for negotiating and that’s why we held dialogue over our nuclear plans. Europeans left the talks because of some considerations and then they came back to the negotiation table with Obama’s administration”, Qassemi added.

“Trump doesn’t seem to be trustworthy in negotiations,” he added, “He follows contradictory policies every day, he’s more into jokes and the one who unilaterally withdrew from JCPOA without any support from US allies was him. How can he declare that he wants to negotiate?! If he was trustworthy, he wouldn’t withdraw from previous agreement”.

The Iranian official continued, “If we consider Trump as serious in declaring the idea, in the optimistic view he wants to use Iran as a bargaining chip to take more money from Israel and some US allies”.
