Iran claims title at Men's Sitting Volleyball World Championships

Tehran (ISNA) – Paralympic gold medallists Iran became the 2018 men’s Sitting Volleyball World Champions as well after beating Bosnia and Herzegovina in straight sets at The Hague on Sunday.

Iran’s national sitting volleyball team defeated the Bosnian team 25-18, 25-13, 25-20 at the Luxor Theater and became the world champions for the seventh time.

The match was a repeat of the Paralympic Games final in Rio de Janeiro two years ago, where the Iranian team beat Bosnia and Herzegovina 3-1.

Iran leads the way with 10 medals in total – all won in the men’s competition – with seven gold, one silver and two bronze medals.

Ukraine took the bronze by beating Brazil in an epic play-off for third which saw two of the three sets go into overtime.
