Iran stresses on development of economic ties with Armenia

Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian Minister of Energy Reza Ardakanian as the special envoy from President Hassan Rouhani held a meeting with Armenian President Armen Sarkissian.

During the meeting, Ardakanian stressed on the importance of activity of Aras and Meghri free economic zones, strengthening cooperation in field of energy between the two countries, implementation of third line of power transmission, the activity of International North–South Transport Corridor and disposal of Aras river pollution.

He said, “Given the great level of political ties and friendly relations between Iran and Armenia, it is imperative that the economic officials increase their efforts to build up the economic interactions between the two countries”.

Expressing his regret over the unilateral decision of US toward withdrawing from Iran nuclear deal, he added, “Violation of international rules and principals by US leads to unity of international community in supporting the nuclear deal”.

Armen Sarkissian, for his part, referred to the llong-standing relationships between the two friendly countries and thanked Iran for supporting Armenia in different issues.
