Iran strategic partner of EU: Bulgarian Economy Minister

Tehran (ISNA) – In a reaction to US’ withdrawal from 2015 nuclear agreement, Bulgarian Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism called the Islamic Republic of Iran as the strategic partner of Europe, stressing on continuation of EU’s cooperation with Tehran .

The Bulgarian Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism Emil Karanikolov whose country holds EU's rotating presidency, made the remarks during a meeting with Iran's Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Masoud Karbasian in Tehran.

Mr. Karbasian, for his part, said, “During the meeting, Mr. Emil Karanikolov welcomed the development of bilateral cooperation and proposed solutions to provide more areas of ​​cooperation”.

“Iran and Bulgaria have long-standing economic cooperation in the fields of industry, agriculture and transport, and this trip is a good opportunity to expand these relations for both sides,” he added.

“Trump’s withdrawal from the nuclear agreement can provide the basis for more cooperation between Iran and Bulgaria,” Iranian economy minister went on to say.

The two countries should establish direct banking relations, he said, adding that the draft agreement for bilateral economic cooperation between Iran and Bulgaria is ready to be signed.

Mr. Karbasian said that in the field of joint ventures, we should work hard and even set up a joint economic commission to identify the investment opportunities and opportunities of the two countries and work quickly.

He added, “There are 7 free trade zones in Iran, which these regions and free zones of Bulgaria can also form partnerships.”
