EU foreign ministers will meet with six of their Arab counterparts in Brussels later today in an effort to try to re-launch the Middle East peace process, Federica Mogherini said Monday.
The EU foreign ministers will also discuss developments in Syria where the situation on the ground is deteriorating, she noted.
She called for the immediate implementation of the UNSC resolution on a ceasefire in Syria and said that she will continue contacts with regional and international partners so that the situation on ground improves immediately.
Mogherini said she will meet the UN undersecretary general for humanitarian aid Mark Lowcock in Brussels tomorrow to discuss how to act together to improve the situation on the ground.
"I am extremely concerned about the increase of military operations all over Syria from different actors, first and foremost by the regime and its supporters," she said, adding that Iran, Russia and Turkey as guarantors have a special responsibility to ensure that a process of de-escalation takes place.
