Iran’s FM probably to participate in Munich Security Conference 2018

Tehran (ISNA) - Munich Security Conference announced that the foreign ministers from Iran and Saudi Arabia will be among the participants in the conference in 2018.

The 54th edition of the Munich Security Conference will take place from 16 to 18 February 2018 in Berlin which its main focus will be on the future role of the European Union as a global actor and its relations with Russia and US.

According to the information provided by the Munich Security Conference, defense and foreign ministers from a number of countries will attend the conference, where Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his counterparts from Saudi Arabia, Russia and Turkey will be among the participants.

CIA director Mike Pompeo, the director of the Mossad Yossi Cohen, US President’s national security adviser H.R. McMaster and the US defense secretary James Mattis will be other participants in this conference.

It is expected that Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz and Israel's prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu to be the other participants in the Munich Security Conference.

Zarif had already taken part to the 53rd edition of the Munich Security Conference but no official announcement has been so far published by Iran about his attendance in the upcoming conference.
